Can anyone help me figure out my problem. When shutting the computer off if I don't shut the monitor before windows logs off, I am unable to shut the monitor off, as it starts changing colors and the power button doesn't seem to work at all. Unless I unplug the monitor and even then if I don't hit power switch fast enough it starts changing colors again. I don't know whats going on. I use to be able to just shut the monitor off after shutting the system.

Thanks

My System is Dell Dimension E310 and I have windowsXP

  1. i have never turned mine off, i just shut down the tower and the monitor goes into power saving mode and blacks out. when i turn the tower on again the monitor becomes active.

there is no damage done to your monitor by doing it this way.

Edit- if there was a chance that it would damage my monitor i wouldn't do it this way, i have a 30" monitor that cost $1,400
