I have a laptop and theres a password on it. I have a pretty simple password. But I was gone for two weeks and I didnt want my little sis to go on it so I changed to something that was really hard. Now that I'm back I cant get on it! I typed my pass on to it but it was wrong so I looked at the hint and it was the hint to my OLD pass. So I typed that in and it wont let me log in. After many times trying it freezes. And theres no other account! What can I do WITHOUT telling my mom or dad? And do you know why its doing that?

BTW, if your wondering how I asked this if I cant get onto my laptop, I'm using my family computer.

  1. do you only have one account on that laptop? well you can try and boot from safe mode and you can maybe change the password from there. well there are some software you can get to change the password but they are hard to find and pretty expensive.

  2. Your sooo funny, okay here it is.....

turn your laptop over take off the battery then look for the backup battery, it is small.

Depending what year it is. You are going to have to unscrew the little screws. Make sure it is not the screws that hold on the bigger parts, after the little top is off then you will see either a small pack of batteries or a type of watch battery, disconnect that and then connect it back, when you turn it on again voila.

Next time write the password on a piece of paper and put it on the travel tag of your luggage ( only if you dodn't travel w/ it) or in your wallet

    good luck, keep us posted

  3. Windows includes a hidden Administrator account that can be used for problems with other accounts. You can access it by restarting the computer into safe mode.

First, restart the computer. As it starts, repeatedly press the F8 key (some computers instead require the Delete or Esc key). Instead of the familiar Windows screen, you'll see a text-only Advanced Options Menu. Use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode. Then press Enter.

Select the Administrator account. By default on most computers, it requires no password. Once logged in, you can change the password of the account you normally use.

To make the change, click Start>>Run. In the box, type "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes) and click OK. Select your normal account name in the list. Click the Reset Password button. You'll be prompted for a new password. You can restart the computer and use the new password on your normal account.

If you're completely locked out of your computer, you'll need software. Such services include Login Recovery, FastCrack, and NT Password and Registry Editor. Each is free. They make use of boot disks that you can download to a floppy or burn to CD. Of course, you'll have to use some other computer to do the downloading.

Once you've got access to your computer, set a new password through Windows. To do it, click Start>>Control Panel. Double-click User Accounts. Select your account and click "Change my password." You'll be prompted for a new password.

You'll also have the opportunity to enter a password reminder. It should trigger your memory if you ever forget your password. But the reminder should not be descriptive enough to allow others to determine your password.
