Last night i thought i would change my hair from medium to a chocolate brown. my hair is now black. how much would it cost me to go to a hair salon or cosmotology school to get it fixed?

HOw long would it take? Could i do it myself? I would like to make it the darker brown.

  1. First, trying shampooing it several times to remove any residual dye.

Sometimes using Dawn dish washing liquid will lighten color slightly, as will using liquid Tide laundry detergent.  Both of these are a bit hard on the hair, so you will want to use a good conditioning treatment afterward.

If it is darker than you intended, you cannot lighten it by recoloring it.

You must bleach it out, or use a dye solvent, and both of these techniques are best left to a professional stylist.

  2. i dyed my hair black once.

    it was the biggest mmistakeever!

i had a hard time getting it out.

so i would suggest for you to go to a professional to get it out.

  3. Do not attempt to fix it your self!!!! You'll over process it and end up with a huge mess!  Try this...Wash your hair with Dawn Dish Soap.  Do this a couple of times and condition it.  This will help to pull some of the color out

  4. if you used permanent color it can be difficult. if you buy a lighter shade, and apply it, it will do nothing. color does not lift color. if you use bleach, it will turn orange!  go to a professional. it will cost more for corrective color, but in the end it will be worth  it to make you happy, and you will learn a lesson about coloring at home. remember, the cheaper way to color, will cost you more in the end.

  5. Just get a hair dye remover. They sell them at walmart

  6. ah easy ! Just buy some hair dye, you can get it quite cheap from shops.

Most of the time its not to  hard to do.

IPS : IF YOU DYE YOUR HAIR AND IT BURNS ITS NOT A GOOD SIGN ! THIS CAN RESULT IN HAIR LOSS !!!

  7. I did the very same thing last summer! my hair was blue-black and I didnt know what to do.

Go to a drugstore or Sally's and look for something called colorfix (I got mine from Sally's). If they don't have it, ask a member of staff if they have anything that could help remove some of the colour from your hair.

i used the colorfix and it stank but it removed most of the black colour and  left it kind of really dark red, which I still hated, but it was better than black. there's no point trying to dye it lighter with blonde hair dye, it won't work.

alternatively, (I also did this in desperation), you could mix some lemon juice and baking powder/ bicarbonate of soda into some shampoo, and put it in your damp hair. leave it for 5 mins, it will kind of fizz, and when you wash it out, loads of black will come out with it, you can see it all in the shower water. This dried the **** out of my hair, though, so use some intensive conditioner if you decide to do this.

whatever you decide to do, you need to do it soon, as theres like a 72 hour window when your hair follicle's still open from the dyeing and anything you do will work best.

a couple of months after i used the colorfix stuff, i still looked kind of dracula-like, so I got some highlights, and they worked a treat. you can try this after a couple of months if you manage to lighten your hair to a dark brown. I kept getting them and i'm now blonde!

i'm sorry this happened. I really know how you feel! I hope what i suggested works out for you..x

  8. you could do it yourself, but i recommend a stylist.  schools would be cheaper than a stylist but more than a DIY.

go to sallys and look for a color extractor.  follow the directions to the letter...do not overprocess.  some extractors you can use multiple times, it will say on the instructions.

    good luck

  9. Do not listen to JennJenn95 - If it was that easy to fix then there would be no such thing as a hairdresser. Dying over it again will only make it darker or at the very least, not change it at all.

The best thing you can do is speak to a hairdresser. They can tell you what you need to do and how long it will take. Good luck and don't worry - it will get fixed!
