he can't fly yet, not a newly hatched one, tipped nest, strangely far from any trees. no other birds near. Parents won't let me keep him (diseases and bugs and such), not a rare species or anything either.

Please help me.

  1. If the bird is fully feathered, it is most likely a fledgling and has left the nest on it's own and it's parents are caring for it. It is normal for birds to leave the nest before they can fly.   You need to replace it where you found it..preferably in a scrub or tree so it is relatively safe from predators, and the parents should come back to feed it.  If it is unfeathered...then look for a nest and if you can find it...replace it into the nest.  Do not worry about your scent being on the chick..birds have a very poorly developed sense of smell and will NOT reject a baby that has been touched.  If you cannot find a nest, get the bird to a local wildlife rehab for it's best chance of survival.  Also, keep in mind, it is illegal for you to try and raise this bird on your own.  Look for a rehab here:

  2. some great sounding help already given...i would just add that the RSPCA apparently receives thousands of baby wild birds every year, and they might be able to help also.  good luck, please let me know what happens...

  3. if you have a bird cage put it in there, if u dont use a fish tank or a box put it by a tree or something protected by predators , chop up worms for him atleast a few times a day give him a small water dish or a water bottle aways make sure he has some, put him in your hand every week to see if he can fly keep him untile he can , hope you do well with the bird bye!

  4. mabye get a cage for outside and keep him there. or if you dont want it, give it to petsmart or something, sell it or give it to someone who will take care of it.

  5. We once found two sparrows, they were babies also.  If you are going to care for it, you need to have either dry dog food or dry cat food, you also have to buy a vitamin called Vionate.  You mix the food with water let it soak until it turns into a pudding like substance, then add the vionate.  Mix it well, and feed with a little spoon or a oval pointed type instrument.  Make sure you add the vionate, otherwise it will develop rickets, an uncontrollable shaking.  I raised both birds, and released them into the wild.  I hope you have the same luck I did.  After a while, they would fly onto our shoulders and sing to us.  It was nice.
