All right, I spilled a few drops of green and purple dye on my $50 jeans! (I never get expensive stuff either! My best and favorite pair!)

I got shout on it and then dawn soap and scrubbed with a toothbrush but it really didnt come out so then I tossed it into the washer.

Now my question is, how can I cover it up? Because it probably wont come out. If you have any tips on that, please tell me! its in the upper thigh area, in the middle of the thigh and then just above the knee. Not good places for rips, if you know what I mean.

  1. hmmm.

    1. you could rock the stain. but thats kinda trashy

    2. DONT PUT IT IN THE DRYER! IT WILL DRY THE STAIN IN!

    3. try taking it to the dry cleaners

    4. try a very strong stain remover at home or do it professionaly

  2. How about using the tye dye to make a pattern of dots like they are designer jeans?

  3. Rit fabric dye has a dye remover.  I don't know if it would also take out the denim color.  If so could you redye blue area?

Rit is found in grocery/drug/hardware/hobby stores (I saw it in Hobby Lobby in the fabric section).

  4. Chances are it is not going to come out.  I would not try a dye remover because you don't know what the jeans were dyed with to begin with and for $50 most likely it was a basic dye not indigo, you would end up with discolored jeans and they would not be the same dying them again.  The more you wash them the more the tye dye should fade since my guess is you did not set the dye.

One thing you can try which I know works with hair but have never tried on fabric is an olive oil based soap.  It lightens hair color and slowly removes a great deal of it.
