  1. The best way for you to get your voice back and get rid of the laryngitis is to keep totally silent. Everytime you use your voice with laryngitis, your vocal cords become more irritated and inflamed. No talking and whispering at all. If you are stuck and have to talk, do not whisper. You are better off talking in a soft tone with laryngitis than whispering. Whispering is harder on your vocal cords than shouting. Also, make sure to drink plenty of water and no caffienated beverages as they dry your throat out. When you have laryngitis and to prevent it, you need to keep your throat moist. Gargling with salt water could help a sore throat. Also, honey and lemon are said to be good remedies. Usually laryngitis lasts a few days to a week or two weeks or longer. If you are still voiceless in two weeks, see your doctor and skip the musical tryouts. It is not worth ruining your voice permanently just for one musical. You should fully recover your voice within a week. Remember, no talking or whispering and drink plenty of water!
