I always leave out a little bit of hard food for when my dog gets hungry throughout the day and then I feed her canned once a day.

any brand of dog food is NOT fine. Also canned is fine you can mix it with dry if you want but kibble does really help much with the teeth regular brushing and cleanings at the vet help with that.. i like Blue Buffullo that is one of the top brands.. look up the top ten best dog foods and that will help.. feeding Iam or purina is like you eating mcdonalds everyday..

Hard food is much better for the dog's teeth, because it helps to remove plaque and tartar.  

Canidae is one of the best dog food choices out there that I know of.

When you go shopping for dog food, make sure that the first two ingredients are some sort of meat.  By-products do not count.

Also, avoid any food that has corn as one of the first five ingredients. Corn is hard for dogs to digest, and just isnt as nutritious as barley or oats.

So, using these basic facts, you should find a dog food that is perfect for you little buddy!

It depends on the dog.  I would feed it half and half, but more hard food.  Any brand of food is fine.  Most like Iams and stuff like that.

well there is a brand of food for dogs called Royal Canine and it makes food for each breed of dogs i would recommend that and there really isn't a big difference between caned and dry food but dry food usually last longer and is cheaper.

Canidae is the best i found for my pitbull.on the weekends i mix in a can of canidae wet food with the dry half a can on saturday  and other half on sunday.

Alternate.  He needs hard food to keep his teeth healthy and the soft food gives him protein.

Hard is better for the teeth. But if you are really needing to ask this basic of a question, you do not need a pit! They need a lot of training and guidance so that they do not become a nuisance, or worse. Please reconsider!
