  1. The Catcher in the Rye is a classic.  There are numerous free on line resources that can help you with your study of this novel, most of which analyze the story, discuss themes and symbolism and other literary devices, and give character sketches.  If you do a search you will find many helpful resources.  Additionally hundreds of questions have been asked here on Y!A about The Catcher in the Rye so do a search for it in the Yahoo Answers search window and you will find lots of Q’s and A’s that should help you.

  3. I don't have a copy with me, but I can try.  Do you have the book handy?  What do you have so far?

trying to get back--  How about when he is thinking about Phoebe, he thinks she is wise and doesn't judge him.

Or  how Holden feels abpout his brother going to California and selling out  (prostituting himself in Holden's opinion) to write.

It is a rather rambling pointless story...probably a metaphor for the experience of growing up...

Was  there something you could use from when he went to visit the old sick teacher before  he left?  That was rather icky..
