  1. Your going to be in nc why don't you do a bootlegger party theme? Or how about a NASCAR theme.

  2. i'm having dejavu...we  did  the  same  thing and  in nc a few  years  ago

we had every family pick a night and they picked a theme and did the cooking, decorations and activity

we did summer nights summer games, we had a traditional BBQ,pork staeks, ribs, hot dogs, potatoe salad, baked beans, corn on the cob, watermelon, we had a badmitton and volley ball tournament, and water balloons and of course we had ribbons for the winners, we decorated  with  luminaries outside and red white and blue decorations  or you could use luau decorations

we had a talent show night, come up with a catchy title, American Idol (?) that family grilled something pork loin (kabobs would be good,) and had baked potatoes and a great salad, everyone had to do something for the show....alot of laughs...

we had Christmas, a turkey and dressing and veggies, a small gift for everyone, a tree was put  up, we sang christmas carols and made an ornament to take home

we had mexican, the kids made a pinantia,  and we had margaritas

then we had family night, lasagne, salad, bread (comfort food) becasue we were celebrating a 50th wedding  anniversary we had champagen, a wedding cake and then we had a family trivia, which was great, the mother who knew something about everyone, in laws, children and grandchilden came up with 100 questions, she read them aloud and then everyone answered idivualy on a peice of paper and then she read the answrs it was great

we were in cabins  with  full  kitchens so had access to  cook what ever, my mother in law who was very ill with cancer wanted to do this and it turned out being one of the best family vacations, everyone did what they wanted during the day and we met up at night for dinner and activites, so the kids could sleep in, the women shopped, kids went horseback

riding, and swimming, we did all go hiking as a group one day and took a picnic lunch

I know I'm starting  to  ramble  but  email me directly  if  you  need  more information or specifics

    Hope you have fun...

  3. Really it may sound very crazy but it really works.  Build your idea and menu around seafood.  People always enjoy good food, conversation and unlimited fun around the food they eat.  If you decorate the place you are hosting your dinner in fun vibrant ocean colors with a great assortment of huge (fake) sea creatures (this also doubles as your conversation pieces).  You can have Caribbean music playing while people are greeted with lei's (the fun neck accessories the Hawaiians give you in Hawaii).  Ask that everyone wear either solid colored shirts or beach themed shirts.  You can have a variety of games set up like limbo, volleyball, hula dancing, a small (nice) sand pit (you can buy sand from your local hardware store.  Serve fun drinks with the little umbrella's in them.  You and your family will be sure to have fun.

I hope you have a great time no matter what theme you choose.

  4. HI! i guess u'll have kids as well as adults for ur family reunion.. so u could ask adults to dress up as kids n kids to dress up as adults.this would be fun for all ur guests.

i hope u'll have great fun..

    best of luck.

  5. You could have a murder mystery sort dinner you could make it like as if someone was killed make everyone a character then leave clues lying around it could go on for the whole night if you made it hard enough. But make sure it is solve-able. Have Fun! Prizes for the winner is a great add as well :)

  6. BBQ scavenger hunt. Then each team cooks what they found.

1 list contains burger ingredients, next list has Hotdog fixin's, etc.

    Have fun.

  7. The Summer Olympics ...  NCAA basketball is always a sure-fire hit in NC
