HELP! I need a new career path!?

Where do I begin?

I'm an Insurance Agent Staffmember for a major insurance company.

I love people, customers and love helping people.

I have excellent customer service skills and have been told numerous times that my problem solving skills can't be matched!

At my office folks who are upset & have major issues are sent to me 1st if available

I also do taxes on the side - but that's seasonal, so that's not an -option - I need full-time year-round work.

Anyone with IRS issues and problems are always was sent to me as well because of my patience (with being on hold with IRS) and my problem-solving skills

My problem is - I've been traded from office (agency) to office alot!

In every office I find I'm needed there because of LAZY EMPLOYEES AND AGENTS!!!

I am so sick of answering every call (even when I have a client with me!) & helping every client - because the other employees are in the back with their feet propped up...chatting!

I need a new career path where my work is merited for my work..not judged by the other people who are NOT working around me!

Maybe something more independent where I work alone?

I'd be an excellent manager or owner - any ideas for a business that doesn't need much start-up $?

BTW - I'm a single mother of 3 who can't go without a paycheck or income of some kind!

Help! ANY IDEAS!!???

Does anyone have a job they LOVE that sounds like something I'd also love?

I live comfortably on $11/hr - so it doesn't have to be extremely high paying either

  2. YOU ALREADY ASKED THIS QUESTION! LOL

  3. Theres no mention of education here.  Get into a night class and work to get a degree in business. Operational management is good, ps you still encounter lazy employees but your the manager dealing with them.  Visit Job Fairs regularly with a suit, get head hunter cards and email them about specific job requirements and salary.  Join business womens association in your area. (They empower each other with lots of business info about potential openings in business)  best of luck  Remember there there is financial aide

  4. You did not say what kind of an insurance product.  With your people skills, have you considered the sales end of the business?  It would probably be financially more rewarding.  Is there some way you could start on a part time basis until you get established?

  5. Before you change fields, talk to your boss and explain your problems.  You're working very hard for a very low salary.  You're a skilled customer service representative with a work ethic, and will be welcome in almost any customer service job....probably at a much higher rate of pay.

Shop the competition.  If your current firm doesn't appreciate you, you can stay in your field by simply moving to another firm.  Above all, don't just sit there and take it.  If you do, eventually you'll find yourself being the one with her feet propped up ignoring the phone.  REFUSE to answer the phone if you're with a client!  Mute your phone and don't let the ringing get to you.  If calls go unanswered, you should probably point out to your boss that you can't answer the phone in the middle of a consultation with a client.  If you stay with this firm, you need a raise and a promotion.
