HELP! I need future/job/college/degree advice?

Many people have told me to major in something that interests me. The problem is that the degrees that interest me don't offer any good paying jobs. Some that interested me are sociology, communication skills, kinesiology, and criminal justice. I really don't want to struggle with classes I hate and I am terrible at. I want to do something that interests me but I am afraid I won't make good money.

  1. I have BS in Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice. Im in love with the law and I love people and society. So that blended together gives me leeway on both sides. If these degrees really interest you, your interest and passion wont have you struggling to survive the course. Not all courses are easy, but if you have the passion and interest, and the will to succeed, you will be fine. There is also student tutoring and help from the teacher. From my experience, teachers love when you ask for help. It shows that you care for your future.

A degree is great, but when your done with the education, you have to gain experience. With most entry level students, you will start off in the mid thirties. It sucks but you have to work your way up to the top like everyone else did. Its also wise to get your Masters as well to make yourself even more valuable. The money will come, you need to work on your experience first!!!!!

  2. You can get good paying positions teaching any of those things.  Chances are if you don't like the classes - you won't like the job that goes along with the classes.  Do what interests you and something will come along.  No education is a waste!

  3. If you're doing something you enjoy, you will be good at it and the money will follow naturally.  I had a job a few years ago that paid great money but I couldn't stand the job and I was miserable.  Took a 15% pay cut to get a job that I enjoyed and was much happier for it.  Money isn't everything.

  4. Get a tutor.

  5. Definitely do something you enjoy!  If you don't you will not be happy - you spend many hours a day at work - you should do something that fulfills you.  What is the extra money worth if you spend most of your waking hours doing something you don't like.  Believe me - my husband makes good money doing a job he hates!
