My tank has 6 pencilfish, 2 albino corys, 2 neons, 1 see-through surface-dwelling fish, and 4 fat orange and red slightly see through fish. I don't know what they are because I got them from a friend. I have no snails or anything else. The eggs are tan-pink and floating around all over the bottom. the eggs are tiny and irregular. I'm afraid my cory will die from eating them. Should I take out the eggs? Can I raise them? Who do they belong to? This has never happened. I'm frantic.

  1. Don't take them out - the cory won't be harmed from eating them. I can't figure out exactly what type of fish have laid these eggs, however, if you sit and observe, you may be able to tell who the parents are. Generally a female will check on her eggs even if she does not carefully raise them. Don't worry, don't be frantic - let nature take over and good luck. The best part is watching the little guys grow up!

  2. caivar.  They are just fish.  Pay 25 cents and get some goldfish.

  3. Stay calm, fish have always eaten the eggs of other fish, it won't hurt anyone, actually it would be healthy, but if you want to keep them separate them into a smaller aquarium and be sure to have a air stone in the tank with them. Do your research before they hatch and become fry, you will need to find out who the parents are, and search the internet for information on what that type of fry eat. Congradulations...I think!

  4. just siphon the eggs out of your tank to a little "nursery" tank.

then prepare some infusoria and artemia for the little fry.

no, your fish won't get sick from eating the eggs. in fact they will surely appreciate it!!!

  5. Welll it means that your friend gave you a pregnant fish! Haha. Actually, it is very common that fish will eat eggs. The fish will be fine, but if you want  to hatch some of the eggs than I suggest that you take them out and place them in a baby tank until they hatch. People have to do that a lot when hatching, so that they aren't all eaten. The cory very well may be the fish that laid the eggs. Fish often eat their offspring. She also may just eat some and frequently check the others. It all depends.

No need to worry. Worst case, your chubby little cory will eat all of the eggs and none will hatch lol. It's okay, just depending on what you want to do.

I am very jealouss haha. Congradulations!

  6. If you didn't see any of the fish mating the eggs probably aren't fertile. So a baby fish can't be formed. It is fine for the cory to eat the eggs, it won't hurt it. Just leave them be. If they're unfertilized they'll be eaten or they'll disintegrate.
