  1. get free broadband with an antenna, i use one with fast loading, no probs, no limits

  2. Some broadband services (especially cable, but not just) slow down BitTorrent traffic intentionally to prevent it from slowing down the traffic of others and to discourage music and video pirating.

If this is the problem, there isn't much you can do, if this is the case, then to get another Internet provider, or find another way to download your stuff (such as FrostWire, which can do BitTorrent but usually uses a different network called Gnutella, the same one LimeWire uses but it doesn't have spyware and has more features) or just download it using a Web browser (legally of course - don't forget that your Internet provider can know if you're pirating music)

You can also try a service like BitLet (http://www.bitlet.org) which downloads the torrent at a normal speed to their server then lets you download the actual files (not the torrent) to your computer.  This can get around the problem, since your Internet provider doesn't block Internet traffic.

Also, torrent speeds are dependent on the trackers and seeds - if this is the problem, just find a new torrent.

  3. Most likely, the issue is your router or firewall. If people can't make inbound connections to your computer, then you cannot connect to anyone else who cannot accept an inbound connection and they can't connect to you either.

You need to set up either port forwarding or UPnP. See the link below.

If you are positive that this isn't your problem, there are three other possibilites:

    1) Your ISP restricts torrent traffic.

    2) These torrents just aren't seeded that well. In that case, that's life. Take a nap and come back later.

    3) Something really weird.

  4. Torrent speeds are reliant on how well-seeded the torrent is, i.e. how many people are uploading to you and how quickly - not just your maximum downstream. Many companies also throttle traffic using torrent protocols, so it could be that too. Probably there just aren't many seeds though.
