HELP!! Is this normal for a bearded dragon?

My bearded dragon is shedding his skin, and has just today stopped eating any food I put in his terrarium. he is about 1 and usually never stops eating. So you can see my surprise when I dropped in two crickets, and he didn't even seem interested. Is it normal for a bearded dragon to temporarily loose his appetite while molting? Please help me, I love him and would hate to watch him get sick!

  1. Most Lizards normally dont eat near stages of shedding. When u said 1 did u mean years months or weeks? Because if they are younger they normaly dont eat after they shed. Just keep putting food in his/her cage to see he/she will eat it. If after it is done shedding and still wont eat for a couple of days I would take him/her to the vet for examination

  2. well they shed because that means he is healthy but why and i think insted of feeding him crickets feed him lettce

hope he gets to filling better GOOD LUCK

  3. it could be normal, it really all depends on a lot of variable factors. It's way too early to tell if it's anything serious as it's only been one day that it hasn't eaten. Dont' worry just yet. It wouldn't be anything out of the ordinary for a dragon to stop eating during a shed. just monitor everything and if 1 day turns into 4 or 5, then there may be something wrong

  4. Don't feed LETTUCE like the other person stated. Yes it is normal for them to stop eating while they are shedding. Just remember to give your lizard frequent baths so he can shed easier. Have fun!
