HELP LCD TV Question?

I just purchased a 42" lcd t.v.

Ivd owned it for about a week and I just my called my lcd t.v. manufacturers and asked them if watchingcertain shows in 4:3 ratio (the ones with black or grey borders on theright and left side of the screen) can cause image-burn of theso-called borders.

They told me it can in the long term.

Someshows are filmed that way and if you stretch them to 16:9 they lookawful. The other day when i spoke to them they told me if the bordersare "grey" and not "black"...then that means that part of the t.v. isstill active and won't cause burn in.

But today it's a different story.Do any of these people know what they are talking about?.What is the truth?.

  1. Grey bars wil not burn in as bad as black bars.

Even if you do keep the television on a 4:3 show for about 2 hours a day, 5 times a week, it would take quite a few years for the burn-in to actually show up. Plasmas are much more susceptible to burn-in than LCDs. Just try not to keep it on a 4:3 show every second of every day of every year, or there WILL be some burn in.
