  1. The tattoo artist will give you instructions on how to heal your tattoo.  You will need to keep it moist with something like A&D ointment until it heals.  Every time I've ever been tattooed they have given me the ointment along with a sheet of instructions on what to do.

  2. the tattoo artist will tell you..mine said not to use A&D ointment because its "oldschool" however there are people and artists  that swear by it. mine said use Lubriderm and thats what i'm using my scabs are coming off and its looking great. whatever u do just listen to your artist as he knows what brand of ink he's using and how to best care for your particular tattoo.

  3. Your tattoo artist will go over all of this with you.  Don't listen to any of us. Tattoo artists across the country vary in their aftercare instructions so anything we tell you will probably be slightly different from what your artist tells you and is only liable to confuse you.

Whatever you do, follow your artist's instructions TO THE LETTER.  Don't deviate from his instructions.  Don't put products on it that your artist doesn't tell you to put on it.  They know best.  If the tattoo artist in question does not give you a printed sheet of aftercare instructions, ask them to write them down so that you can refer to it later - it can be easy to forget this stuff in the all of the excitement of getting your first tattoo.

    Good luck!

  4. How about you ask your artist? You know, someone who is licensed? They've had their guidelines approved--they are the ones you should trust.

  5. yesterday you "was thinking about putting some tattoos on my body"

    ....and today you have a tattoo..........wow....sounds responsible/mature

just like yesterday, you refuse to use the Yahoo Answers Search Bar

and you insist on using caps lock

.......why wouldn't you have done this research BEFORE getting the tattoo

or even during the process......completely irresponsible.....

    you and your dad

  6. Well they'll tell you how to keep it from becoming infected, at least they should. When I got mine they recommended Lubriderm to keep it moisturized.

Also, after it's healed you want to make sure you keep sunscreen on it to keep it from fading.
