I am basically clueless. I need help about colleges. Like applying and everything. Also how many years is it to get a BBA? If anyone can help me with this stuff that'd be great. Just anything to do with the college process. When should I apply, how many should I apply to? Should I apply in my junior or senior year? Also when should I take my SAT's? Thank you!

  1. Be careful.  Yahir S. is trying to push his website.  If you want to look at a website, look at www.collegeboard.com, because they are the people who offer the SAT and they have a huge site that covers a broad variety of subject matters (and they won't push you toward unknown online schools!).  Princeton Review is another good site for getting a lot of information on various colleges.  I have no connection to either of these sites.

Getting a BBA takes you 4 years, generally, although some people these days take a bit longer.  You should apply in the fall and very early spring (depending on the school) of your senior year.  You can take your SATs in your junior year or very early in your senior year.  How many schools you should apply to depends on how good a candidate you are and on how selective the schools are.  If you are going to a local community college, for example, one school is fine.  If you are applying to Ivy League and similar schools, you might need to apply to 10.

You should probably talk to your high school guidance counselor to get started on this.  It sounds like perhaps your parents did not go to college and you need a lot of advice on how to approach everything about college.  There are a lot of things you will need help with, such as knowing where to apply and how to apply for financial aid.  The process will take a long time, so it is hard to get all the information you may need online.

  2. If your interested in the Bachelor of Business Administration, start reviewing college and university web pages for information about the programs in BBA.  Talk to your counselor about the other issues such as when to take the SAT or ACT.  Usually you want to take it after you've completed as many classes as you can and still get your scores sent by the time you are applying to schools for admission.  Keep in mind that BBA programs have a lot of applicants.  You may be admitted to the university but not be accepted as a student in the Business school.

Once you've selected your top choices of where to attend, try to visit the schools and meet the department chairperson of the Business College.  Some universities have a special recruitment day that you could attend to get a feel for the school, talk to the students, and get information about the application process.  Some universities have early admission programs.  Ask about such programs.  Also be sure to inquire about financial aid and scholarships.  Every dollar you can get from a scholarship or grant is one you don't have to earn or get from your parents!

  3. It usually takes 4-5 years to get your undergraduate degree (BA or BS).

You'll apply in the fall of your senior year, and you'll take your SAT's at the end of your Junior year and maybe again in October of your senior year. Applying to about 4 schools is around the average. You have your dream school that you really want to get into, a few other good schools and then a safety school. I would start picking out what schools you think you want to attend and then maybe start thinking about going on campus tours. Those are really helpful because they will give you a lot of information about what you need to do to apply.
