HELP ME PLEASE. Terrified of flying. Leaving tomorrow on 6 hour flight. Help?

Driving wouldn't work. It'd take too long. We're going to Ohio, NY, Penn. West Virginia, and Canada.

  1. Hi depending on how old you are.......take a drink before, and while in flight.

If the height scares you, try getting the aisle seat versus a middle or window...so you cant see exactly how high up you are.  Bring an ipod or something to listen to, and possibly a book or puzzle books to help keep you busy and keep your mind off of it.  If you are traveling with family, you can also bring cards with you to play.  You have nothing to worry about, you will be just fine!  Relax, and enjoy your vacation!

    Or some sleep pills... 5 minutes before gettin into the plain

  4. Dont worry flying is very fun so if u need some tips take them from me im a pilot.

    Here are tips listed from 1-10  Have fun.

    1.Tv's in your seat tell you how fast and how high you are

    2.If you get worried take deap breaths and just sit back and relax and you may want to refrain from getting up if u are worried

    3.Sit back and dont get worried just think of it as a large car ride.

    4.If the plane shakes dont freak out its just headwinds.

    5.Use the bathroom and grab a air sickness bag before the fight.

    6. Always wear a seat bealt even if they say you can remove theme

    8.Naps are good

    9. Bring somthing like a i-pod or portable somthing to use whilee in flight.

    10. LAST AND NOT LEAST sit back relax and enjoy youre flight it will be very fun and exciting. take it from me.

  5. 1 thing....this might scare you PLEASE TAKE SUTIFED AND MUCUSNIX b4 you go on the plane! it will help with your ears! and don't worry im on 13 iv been on a plane about 8 times and i have to go on one again on the 26th! just bring stuff like a dvd player or i pod a laptop is cool too i usually draw if im bored..play cards you know just dont use your cell phone cause its not allowed well yeah thats it i guess...but theres a few things you could do...BRING A MAGAZINE...uhg to think i really need to buy one for the next time i go haha its a 3 1/2 hour flight too

  6. personly i like flying but maybe you could sit on the isale sets or sleep read ect. talk and always remember you have a 1 in 11 million chance of crashing and 1 in 5 million or somthing chance of chrashing while driving so hope it helps a little and if you have a window seat maybe close the window shade thing

  7. it is normal to be concern because if your not, you have issues, however, i travel 15-20 a year short and long distance in fact leaving tomorrow to the Netherlands, then Dubai.

    from experience as much as i think i am comfortable with flying i wounder every time if some wrong may accrue. but i take few steps to reduce the anxiety,

    1- use your Pod /MP3 player very quick, as soon as permitted.

    2-In long distance travel i usually take my shes off or have slip on sandals.

    3- ask for window seat, preferably in the front section of the plane. seen the out side can help reduce the anxiety. and setting in the front can reduce engine noises

    4-books, puzzles, and  magazine is a start, but discussing them with someone is better.

    AND ALL THAT DID NOT WORK HAVE FEW DRINKS, AND EVERYTHING WILL BE Fine

  8. Grrr. This is a hard one. Im totally paranoid about flying too. Talk to your parents about driving there. Or you could convince them if you could bring a really really close friend at last minute. Good luck!

  9. On an episode of airline, there was this women who was scared of flying so she asked if she could help the flight attendents with the giving out the snacks. That helped her get her mind of the fear of flying. Maybe it could help you.

  11. Take a sleeping pill about 30 minutes before boarding.  Then struggle to stay away while you're waiting for your flight and you'll pass out nicely as soon as you take off! Drinking doesn't always make people fall asleep and sometimes combines poorly with fear.  Just take a sleeping pill beforehand, not too far before, but not too late like once you're already on the plane and already hopped up. An ipod with soothing music and a book to tire your eyes out won't hurt either.
