  1. A USPS Delivery Confirmation # IS a tracking #.  It is "OK" to give the information to the buyer.  It allows them to track their package through the mail system.

I buy/sell on ebay all the time, and always provide the Delivery Confirmation to the buyer.

  2. It is safe, but there is no reason at this point.

If you had a tracking number, that proves you mailed it and lets you and the buyer track it.

Delivery confirmation is the post office saying they delivered it. The buyer has no use for that.

If the buyer says they didn't receive it, then you have a delivery confirmation from the USPS to say it was delivered.

  3. First off, remain calm.

USPS does not sell "tracking". True tracking is only available on Express Mail. A delivery Confirmation is not true tracking, although there are sometimes "Enroute" or similar types of scans, but those are neither required nor guaranteed. Delivery Confirmation is designed to "Confirm" the "Delivery" of an item, nothing more.

I would advise against giving the buyer the number, as that usually just creates anxious buyers when they don't see any scans along the way. Personally, I never give the buyer the number unless it has been too long for the package to be delivered, and, they ask for it.
