  1. If she's an inside cat, block her ways of getting to the engine. If she's an outside cat, you're out of luck

  2. how is she getting in the engine. god keep her in the house and get a litter box.

  3. dont slap the kitty that just insults her,and she will do it even more. get a squirt gun put very cold water in it..when she goes under the truck give her a couple shots every time...she wont like it after  awhile and wont do it again..and find her a nice warm spot with a old towel off in the corner where she can hide...

  4. Give her away and get a dog.

  5. I don't think it is a good idea to pour water on you cat. Each time before your dad cranks the truck, ask him to check and make sure it's not in there. If it is, just pound on the hood lightly and it might get the idea that it's not safe to craw up in the truck.

  6. Tell your dad to park the car somewhere else, like maybe somewhere around the block.

  7. We have a bunch of free roaming cats at my house and we had the same problem with a lot of the kittens. All we could do was try and park as far away from where the kittens played as possible, and then check under the hood and in the wheel wells if we didn't know where they all were. The good news is that your kitten should outgrow going up in the engine. She'll get too big to fit up there or take to laying on the hood of the car instead. Until then, however, there's nothing you can really do about it. I never used water or spankings and they all stopped eventually.

  8. My outdoor cats used to do that too. Cats love going near the engine because it's warm.  The only thing you can do is either put something to block the engine that he will have to remove everyday before starting or he needs to check it everyday before starting.  Not much help I know but cats do what they want when they want.  The water idea is good I would keep trying that or you can ask a vet if there is some type of spray that deters cats from a certain area.  Also you can google keep cats away- theres lots of products that keep cats away from certain areas with high pitched noise (unable for humans to hear).  I doubt its cheap.  Good luck

  9. try to keep her out of the garage. if that's not an option watch her do it and see how she climbs up. if she's climbing up the tires, they make this stuff to keep cat's off counters you could put under the tires. its plastic sheets with little spikes on it that they don't like to walk on. the spikes are so little they won't hurt your dad's tires. you just have to convince your dad to park on the spot where you put the stuff down. you could also try givng the cat someplace else to sit that's similar to the engine compartment that he would like. make sure it's warm and totally dark.

  10. Yes, thowing water is a good and safe way to let your kitty know that a certain behavior is BAD.  I keep the plastic squirt bottles that people use to mist their plants and turn the k**b to a stream of water, so my cats just HATE it and it is fairly safe.  All I have to do is show the bottle to one of them and he runs away, terrified of WATER!!

If I were you I would NOT let that cat outside, PERIOD!  Cars are by far the biggest killer of cats, except for the shelters and they only euthanize the cats as there are so many of them and not enough loving homes (like the kind you have to offer.)

Companion animals create longevity in humans, unfortunately the opposite is not aways the case.  Keep your kitty safe and keep him/her in the HOUSE with you...always.  That way you know where your animal is and you are being a responsible pet owner.

    Good luck!

  11. That's just one of the many dangers of leaving cats outdoors. If you choose to leave her out, be ready for her to come up missing eventually. If she hasn't been spayed yet, please get it done within the next week or so. Kittens as young as 4 months can go into heat and you certainly don't need any more cats around there.
