  1. I found that I had the same problem last night when I was watching TV and was listening through my receiver.  Sometimes only the background noise/music plays and not the voices (example:  I was watching a baseball game.  I could hear the crowd and the action on the field but non of the commentary.)  I fixed the problem by switching what my decoder was set to.  It was on Dolby DTS or something and when I switched it to 2 channel Stereo everything was fine.

My Yamaha RXV-3800 receiver also has a feature called "Pure Direct" which is supposed to play exactly what is coming to the receiver and is not suppose to have any decoders turned on, etc.  I find that this also cuts out the "main audio" for some reason.

  2. try to turn up the treble

  3. Check that ure speakers are hooked up properly,

  4. the problems not with the jacks its with the settings try to increase the "karoke" something like that, thats for the voices.
