  1. You aren't supposed to use tomato juice but tomator PUREE that would get very expensive.  even tom. juice would be very expensive depending on size of dog.  I remember doris day movie where it took like 40 cans of juice to bath the sheepdog.

here is link to product or two that will work ...

take a look and then buy locally so you can get it done fast.

    good luck .

  2. Ketchup--lots of it.

  3. you can use tomato juice.. just keep rinsing over and over and rubbing it in... i think they do make a product now just for this purpose, though.  call your local pet shops to ask.

  4. just wash your dog with tomato juice or some special shampoo vets and pet stores have.

  5. Elizabeth C is right on track.  Everyone else that suggested tomatoe juice will have you wasting your time and your money.  All that does is make your dog smell like a skuned dog that has been dipped in tomato juice.

    What does work?

Simple Solution has a product for pets that have been sprayed by skunks.

    Things You’ll Need:

    water

    1 quart 3% Hydrogen Peroxide

    1/4 cup Baking Soda

    2 tbsp Dish Detergent.

Double the amounts if you have a large dog

Mix it in a large plastic bucket, because it will foam up big time. You are making an oxygen generator. Wash the dog/cat with this while it is still foaming, it is the oxygen which reacts with the thiols ( the smelly oil in skunk spray) to neutralize the odor. If you wait & it stops foaming it will not work. So mix it & wash you pet right away

Don't try to store it in an airtight container, because it will blow up. The brew also works for clothes, humans , furniture & in carpets.

    Step1

Remove the source of the odor. If your pet has been sprayed, then don't let him in the house until you have gotten rid of the odor. If you do let him or her in the house, you will have to work on getting the smell out of the house. If it is you that has been sprayed, then carefully go in without touching a bunch of things. If your house itself is where the skunk sprayed, then try and get the things that have been damaged out of the house and into lots of open air. It is also a good idea to open the windows.

The rest of the directions are at the link provided below.

Other suggestions. Put some coffee grounds in a pan in the oven and turn oven on for a few so the smell fills the house.

Apply Vicks to the end of your nose and it should help you to sleep without smelling the skunk. You might want to have the Vicks bedside in case you need to refresh.

  6. Tomato Juice. It always works!

  7. Your vet or a pet store would probably have a specific shampoo if you want to get it in case it happens again, but there's a pretty good home recipe.  It's at this link.

  8. Yep, get yourself a BUNCH of tomato juice-- buy the tomato sauce by hunts or campbells and lather it on your dog...it might take a couple of times so buy some extra!

  9. This is a Myth-busters tested skunk remedy, I have used it it worked when all the other stuff failed!

Dawn dish washing liquid, Hydrogen peroxide, Baking soda.

The proportions where not listed so I mixed them equally.  Careful around the eyes and mouth.  not bad, but not pleasant to taste.

  10. give them a bath in tomato juice.

  11. V-8 juice works great!

  12. All the home remedies work a little like tomato juice not ketsup.. The only things that really work are things specifically designed for it.
