HELP MY DOG IM SCARED ? LICKED SOMETHING OFF THE floor?

help IM SCARED my dog licked a finger full of hand lotion off the floor ... while i was taking it out it fell on the floor so i went to get a napkin when i came back i saw him l*****g it...... could something happen to him ? hes a chihuahua mixed rat terrier PLZ ANSWER

look on the ingredients on the lotion and then look up ur dogs breed on the internet and see wat r some commen allergies in the dog breed and if there r toxic chemicals that can kill ur dog take itto the vet too being that it is a small dog it could be more effected by smaller amounts that wouldn't effect bigger dogs

It shouldn't hurt your dog.  When you put on lotion, it gets absorbed into your skin and it doesn't hurt you.

I wouldn't worry about it.  He will be fine!  I've had a pet eat whole bottles of Oats and Honey conditioner before

DUDE  chill. Your dog is fine. If he starts to throw up then go the animal hospital at once. My dog eats worst stuff than lotion and she is fine. :D don't worry

Most likely he will be fine.  Just watch him and if he shows any symptoms of distress get him to the doctor.  My dog once chewed open a jar of face cream and licked out nearly the entire contents. She was fine and was completely asymptomatic.

keep an eye on him to make sure he's not showing signs of sickness. If he does show signs then take him to his vet.

he should be okay, if he starts throwing up repeatedlly or acting very sick call a vet, but dogs are pretty tough. he may throw up once but should be fine. just dont let him have chocolate!

Read the ingredients list on it and see if it says to contact poison control if ingested.

Probably nothing, my dogs have licked lotion too. Dogs are fairly hardy animals.

Hand lotion does not contain anything poisonous. It is mostly water and oil with a little perfume and a harmless preservative. The amount your dog has eaten is unlikely to have any effect on him and by now the lotion has already reached your dogs stomach so there isn't much anyone can, or needs, to do.

Make sure your dog has water available to drink, you should always do this anyway.

The oil may act as a mild laxative, so make sure he can get outside to the toilet if he needs to.

it should be ok =). My dogs LOVE to l**k my legs/hands when I put lotion on them... they'll chase me around the house trying to l**k me! LMAO!!  

I'd double check the label though... since it's ponds I don't think it's a medicated lotion like gold bond or anything right? Just normal plain lotion?

I think water will dilute the lotion. Just give him water, if he doesn't seem to want to drink it then put your finger in it & shake it a little, but with him looking.
