HELP MY guinea pig doesnt have hair behind its ears!!!?

MY guinea pig is very young. I bought him at petco a couple of mounths ago.He has very little bald spots behind both his ears. Is that normal?

Petco has a bad rep. Don't buy their animals.

Anyway, back to your question. Bald patches behind ears are perfectly normal! It's not a sign of mites, unless there are scabs or sores and your guinea is scratching. Both of mine have bald spots behind their ears, but I've seen many that don't. It's purely genetic and natural. Don't stress!

Yes, it is normal, as long as the patch is not too big. Most guinea pigs have a "bald patch" directly behind their ear. Usually it is the same size or smaller than the ear itself, so it you fold the ear over you won't be able to see the patch anymore, it would be hidden under the ear.

If the patch is bigger than the ear, however, check the guinea pig over for mites. Mites and cause baldness and flaky skin. If he does have mites, bathe him once a day in mite removal shampoo (FOR guinea pigs!) until all signs are completely gone. You might want to take him to the vet for further help.

But I wouldn't worry too much, almost all guinea pigs are bald behind their ears.

Comepletely normal. It's just the way they are made.

It's good that you are concerned though. A lot of people never notice. It shows you are concerned for your pig's well being.Now take it one step further and adopt a friend for your pig.

Dont worry one of my guinea pigs has no fur behind her ears. Its totally normal nothings wrong with your guinea pig. Some guinea pigs dont have fur behind there ears..
