HELP! My cat is missing?

I love my cat soooo much and yesterday she went missing. She is about 4-6 months old and we wanted her as an indoor cat only, but she loves the outdoors. We stopped fighting it and finally let her go outside. She did great! She's been going out for months now and everyday when I want to bring her inside I go to the exact same place and call her and she comes running. Yesterday we let her out like always and then I left to go shopping (live in small town have to drive 30 minutes for a walmart etc.) anyways, while we were shopping it built up and started raining. When I got home it was raining out so I got my umbrella out and went out to get my poor kitty inside. She was no where to be found. After it stopped raining I thought she would come out from whereever she had found shelter and come home. That was yesterday and there is no sign of her. I talked to a couple of my neighbors and they haven't seen her. Would she run away becuase of the rain...why wouldn't she come back after is stopped? Please help, I can't stop crying and I want her back so bad.

  1. With luck she will come home. But I would suggest that you start looking for her. Try looking "low" under steps, bushes, tall grass. And then look up high....a scared cat may be in a tree. Call her name and wait quietly and listen. Ask everyone you see if they have seen her and to keep an eye out for her. If it's been more than a few hours, put up posters, contact shelters and put a missing ad in your local paper.

When you do find your girl, please keep her home and inside permanently. An indoor cat is healthier and happier. And don't forget to have her spayed.

    Good luck!

  2. I have been in this situation several times, so I know how it feels when your babies don't come home.  The first step must be to carry out a thorough search in the immediate vicinity.  By following their owners too closely, cats can find themselves locked in garages or sheds, outbuildings, and it is always worth checking.  You have already contacted your neighbours...an advertisement in a local shop or newspaper, giving a brief description of the cat and any distinguishing features, may lead to information.  Other sources of help to consider are animal welfare groups operating in the area, neighbourhood radio stations, some of which broadcast details of lost and found pets, local & out-of-town veterinary clinics and possibly the police.

Given the rather fickle nature of many felines, it may simply be that a kind person had adopted the cat by chance, without realising that it already had an owner (I ended up giving-up two of my cats because they kept going back to their adopted family; they were only too happy to keep them).

Is your cat microchipped, with a collar which has your address or telephone number on it?

Don't get disheartened...I hope your baby finds her way home... but if she dosen't or you don't have success finding her...there are hundreds of abandoned cats that desperately need owners like you.  All the best.

  3. i am sure she will come back. i have four cats three girls and one boy who i love dearly. i dont know what i would do i one of them would go missing. try putting up pictures of her around your neighborhood. whatever you do don't give up and good luck xxxxx

  4. maybe some body thought ur cat was stray if the tag wasn't on her. tht's why all the pets need a tag attached to them for getting loss. u can check the local animal shelter if anyone has returned ur cat there. it happend to my friend and she found her dog in animal shelter! or u can make a flyer with her name, picture, attitude, and ur phone number. i hope u find ur cat

  5. I'm sorry sweetie - don't cry.  The first thing that I would do is make sure that there is food & water for her out by your door, then I'd print out flyers (with a picture of her if you have one) and pass them out all around your area - maybe even offer a small reward if your parents would agree.  Call your local radio station & see if they'll make an announcement on the radio for you.  Check your local animal shelter to see if someone by chance may have taken her there.  Good luck & don't give up hope.

  6. maybe she cant find her way back. keep on looking never give up. wordup

  7. Call your local animal shelters/humane societies immediately!  They will keep your pet for usually a short period of time before putting them up for adoption.  Ours is 5 days!  I recommend you also go there yourself and look.  Also, contact veterinary clinics and ask if you can post a sign there.  There are too many perils outside for cats!  Keep them indoors!  Also, see about gettting your pet microchipped.  It's a nationwide service, relatively inexpensive, (Our local shelter here does it for all adoptions) and if your cat ever gets lost most shelters and vets can scan them and contact you.

  8. My female would sometimes be gone for a few days. It scared the heck out of me the first time it happened. Then she trained me to get used to it.

  9. She may have gone in someones garage/shed/outhouse and been locked in.

    Ask you neighbours to check.

    Good luck. xx

  10. Maybe you can put some food out for her where you always call her at. Then check the food bowl every hour to see if any is missing. And maybe then she will come home. I will tell you this though a cat never forgets where the food thats fed to her is at. And I am sure she loves you very much too so she will want to come back home to see you.I hope your cat does come home! I think she will though just keep checking.

  11. well.i lost my cat months ago.i was gone.when i came home i wanted to see him but he was gone.i looked every were mabay hes looking for u but till then put up fliers and a big poster at a park.thar are web pages that have were u can but up about a missing animal.also call all the vets.even give fliers to the vets.

                                            GOOD LUCK.

  12. Cats are very resourceful. She probably found good/dry shelter from the rain. She may feel safer there until there are no puddles left from the storm.

Keep food out (if you can do so without attracting the wrong kinds of critters) and keep looking for her. She'll get hungry. When she does, she'll try to find her way home.

  13. Awwe.. I'm so sorry. All you can really do is go out and call her every couple hours and set out some kitty food. I really hope you find her! good luck...
