HELP!! My cooking pot's Lid is sucked onto my induction hob! How do I get it off?!? (...am bad at cooking)

I was boiling some water in the pan and when it over boiled I quickly lifted the lid of the pan, and placed it on the induction hob.

The lid was damp and very hot, and I guess it just sucked right onto the induction hob when it was placed onto its cold surface, face down.

Now I can't get it off at all. I tried pouring boiling water over the lid, but it won't budge....

Please please can someone give me some sensible advice on how to get it off? - no funny comments please just helpful solutions, many thanks.

p.s. I don't want to scrape with a knife and ruin the hob itself, and can't drill an air hole into the lid either....

  1. I am afraid a carefully drilled 3mm hole would be my only solution although it does sound like you are in a fix

  2. your in serious trouble.....GUD LUCK

  3. have you tried sliding it to the edge, thereby allowing air in?

  4. Try applying liberal amounts of washing up liquid around the edge of the lid this may encourage it to "slide off" when you apply sideways pressure to lid....

  5. I'm bad at cooking too! I cant make toast right....

Try putting soap around the edge of the lid? You could maybe even try conditioner to soften it? Put it this way- the longer you leave it the tighter it will stick........
