I was at an outdoor concert and my digital camera got wet in the rain. I was taking pictures when suddenly the screen went black, wouldn't turn back on, and the lens won't go back in. It's been two days and I still can't get it to do anything... is there any hope left for my camera? =(

  1. As soon as possible take out the batteries and leave the camera flap (for the battery compartment) open and leave it to continue drying for at least a few more days.

Then try replacing the batteries with fresh ones. (the water short-circuited the camera which is what probably killed it + would have also drained the batteries)

If it still does not turn on the odds are you have probably killed the camera and its time to buy a new one.

Electronics + Water DO NOT MIX! It is an instant recipe for disaster unless you are working with water-resistant/waterproof appliances.

    Good Luck!

  2. You are going to have to get a new camera. Its hard not to have a camera that works.

The inside of the camera may have gotten really wet depending on how rainy it was. But do you have insurance on the camera? You can send it back and the company should replace the camera.

  3. I doubt it I guess you have to buy a new one

  4. Remove the batteries and memory card and let is sit to dry for at least 3 more days.  Then try it again.

Sometimes bagging it up with dry rice will help get some moisture out too.  Good luck.
