  1. I live in NSW, there are 24 hour vets all over the place here so I'd say it's the same in QLD. It sounds like the kitten has a fever and should be seen by a vet ASAP.

And please keep him away from the other cats food.

  2. Vets don't hang out on Yahoo Answers in their spare time.  There's 24 hour vets all over the place.  Instead of wasting precious time sitting there waiting for an answer FIND ONE.  Where did this kitten come from?  If you got it "free" or from someone who's cat had kittens that let their cat roam outdoors god knows what diseases it may have.

And why are you letting an EIGHT WEEK OLD kitten eat cat food?  What's VERY scary about that is the fact you're letting this cat share it's bowl.  Not just because the food is bad for a kitten but that anything this kitten has is going to quickly transferred to your existing cat via its saliva on the bowl.  You better pray this kitten doesn't have Feline Leukemia or it's like both this kitten AND your cat - will DIE.

edit: you bought a kitten from a pet store?  Good luck with that!  Has this kitten EVER seen a vet?  Pet stores are notorious for selling sickly animals.  I give this one a few more weeks - maybe a month.

  3. it has some stomach virus. Try to keep him hydrated (milk)

He may have a temperature - so apply cold rags to his paw pad.

Create a comfortable sleeping place, pet her a whole bunch (get her to purr)

Feed him moderate amount of food(wet and dry Mix) in isolation. Monitor how much he eats.

Consult Vet. if symptoms persist  (24) hr or worsens (get to vet immediately)

I hope this help, My prayers are with your little guy.

  4. I'm sorry to hear about the kitty and I'm sorry to hear people are giving you a hard time! You clearly care about your cat and want to help it and THAT IS ALL that people should be reacting to, end of story.

The longer answer above sounds like an expert. Keep the kitten drinking cold and fresh water.

If his condition gets worse, you'll have to find a vet that is open that is not necessarily close to where you live. People forget that not everyone has the opportunity to go to a far away vet in the middle of the night. I for one do not have my driver's license, and the closest animal clinic is pretty far away - I can get there by bus in a little over half an hour... so in the middle of the night, if that one weren't open, I wouldn't know what to do, either. I'm just lucky my roommate is a vet in training.

Good luck and let us know how your kitty's doing!

  5. It's a shame some people are too busy kicking dirt in your face to help your little kitten. Anyone who truly cared would overlook all that.

No kittens shouldnt be eating from the same bowl, Im sure you'll take measures to ensure that doesnt happen again.

In the mean time get a piece of cloth and use luke warm (tepid) water to bathe the paw pads -DONT USE COLD WATER - this will make the capillaries and pores contract and prevent him losing heat. Keep him in a cool (not cold) room if possible.

Provide him with cool (not cold) water and cats milk (not cows if poss as is not good for them). Keep him away from food for now. Try not to cuddle him or handle him too much.

Keep an eye on his capillary refill by pressing lightly on his gums (only if his doesnt distress him), they should go pale when pressed and then colour should return instantly, this way you can monitor his heart's efficiency. If it takes a while and you really cant get a vet right now, keep an eye on this and then it will help you to monitor improvement to some degree.

Usually vets alternately stay open 24 hrs as a community group but as I live in England and you live in Australia I can't say for you.

If he hasn't improved in the morning get him to the vets. I'd suggest small chopped boiled chicken and rice for a few days.

  6. All you do is Feed them in separate room and take the food away until later when they are hungry again, I have 2 cats and 2 kittens (10 weeks old, had since birth) and this is what I do.

She has eaten too much this is why she is throwing up, cool her down with a damp cloth and open the windows.
