  1. There isn't a specific ratio.  I have ADD.  I was diagnosed at the end of first grade.  I've never had to be in a special classroom.  I did need medication.  Beleive me it's the best thing that ever happened to me.  Make sure the teacher knows that your son has it.  She will be better prepared to help him and will be much more understanding.  However you need to watch out.  Some teachers don't beleive in that stuff and will sometimes pick on a kid.  It's happened to me.  My mom had to go in and talk to this teacher several times.  She even made me cry once (the teacher).  Also be supportive.  Let your kid know that he's special and not stupid (he'll get told that at least once).  My mom has helped me soo much with all of this stuff.  She even homeschooled me for a year so I could learn how to read and write. (I also have dislexia and disgraphia so I can't spell and reading was very hard for me).  Also  helping your son with his homework is very important.  He may not always know what he's doing even if he did pay attention.  Forgetfullness is a big part of ADD.

  2. IF YOUR CHILD HAS ADD HE MIGHT QUALIFY FOR SPECIAL ED. NOT THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT. BUT USUALLY THE TEACHER HAS ABOUT 22 STUDENTS AND AN ASSISTANT, NOW IF HE QUALIFIES FOR SPECIAL ED WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IS OF COURSE ASK THE SCHOOL TO DO AN EVALUATION AND YOU WILL ATTEND AN ARD MEETING TO SEE IF HE QUALIFIES AND IF HE DOES THE SPECIAL ED TEACHER WILL PULLHIM OUT OF CLASS AND WORK ONE ON ONE WITH HIM. MY DAUGHTER IS SPECIAL ED AND SHE GOES TO A REGULAR KINDER TEACHER AND THE SPECIAL ED TEACHER WILL PULL HER OUT AND WORK WITH HER ON WHAT SHE NEEDS HELP WITH. BUT TALK TO YOUR SCHOOL COUNSLOR BECAUSE THEY WILL BE THE ONES TO SETUP EVERYTHING

  3. i would say it depends on the behavior and how much it interferes with normal activity.  My son has ADHD but he also has high functioning autism.  He has been in Special Education but they are going to try regular classes next year.  However, he takes medicine so he can function at school.  If the child can focus and do their work there is no need for special attention.

  4. i had adhd from before grade school started and for quite a while after. i took medication and i was a bit hyper and started some weird habbits of spinning or bouncing.... i didnt have any extra teachers and i was fine. if you tell the teacher then they will just know they have to b patient and calm. your child should be fine. you could always go to your doctor and askt theyre opinion tho

  5. My daughter goes in reading and math group. She is not coded but they do it in a smaller group of kids outside of the class. This helps her pay closer attention and there is less distraction around her. This has helped her grades a lot.
