Question:

HELP! Need motivation to clean a VERY messy room!?

I've been attempting to clean my junk-filled room for about five months now, and have been very unsuccessful. I'll make lots of headway, and then become suddenly distracted or overwhelmed. Then when I want to start again, I don't know where to start! I've tried everything; from buying myself things that I can't use until I'm done to grounding myself until it is clean. Nothing works! Any ideas?! I'm desperate!

Also, I'd love to redecorate my room. I need to save money and space.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you :)

  1. If you clean that room ,you will be able to redecorate it.  Why you can`t even find the floor!  Take all that excess stuff that you don`t use anymore and have a yard sale.  You`ll have a cleaner room, and some extra cash plus you can redecorate.  Hows that?  Don`t come out until it`s finished.

  2. Make it as fun for yourself as you can.  Put on your favorite dance music.  Dance with the broom. Once you get going, its amazing how quickly you can get it done.

  3. you just need to start in one area at a time- it will always look worse before it looks better.

so start in one area and put everything into boxes KEEP, TOSS, and DONATE and move the keep items into another room until you are completely done cleaning you entire room. clothes- if you haven't worn it in 6 months chances are you won't wear it again so just get rid of them!Toss the garbage and take the things to Good Will right away also to get it out of your way. Once your room is completely empty you can clean the floors, walls, windows, etc and rearrange your furniture for a fresh look (good time to paint walls or furniture also). then slowly start bringing all your stuff back into your room and put it in it's right spot. invest in some storage containers for smaller items to keep organized and get some shelves to put up in your closet to store them on.

  4. Whenever I have a very messy room to clean, I like to start by piling everything in the room besides the furniture right in the middle of the room. This pile should include junk, stuff that should go to a different room, trash, clothes, everything. Everything but furniture. Then put on some music that you can dance to for hours. Then start with one thing out of the pile at a time. Put each thing exactly where it belongs. If it does not belong in the room, have bags, boxes, crates, or whatever standing by to transfer the unwanted item to the appropriate place. It helps if you clear a specific day for cleaning the offensive room well in advance, and then be sure to have a clear schedule, a determined mind, and no distractions like phones, TV, company, appointments, etc. Put your nose to the grindstone and don't give up until you are satisfied!
