HELP: Onyo Remote Does Not Recognize Receiver when...

Hi, I got an HT-S5100 7.1 CH Onkyo Home Theater System hooked up to my Panasonic Plasma. At the same time, my technician programmed my ONKYO remote control to control my DVD, CABLE and TUNER audio as well as drive the CABLE menu and channels. My cable is connected to my receiver via HDMI cable, not RCA jacks.

Here was my problem. One morning, I realized that my ONKYO receiver still controls my DVD and TUNER Audio - it utilizes my entire front and rear speakers when I am viewing DVDs and tuning in to the radio -- but when I watch a cable channel, my audio can only pick up from the internal speaker of my Panasonic Plasma --- my five speakers do not work! I tried to hack my receiver by connecting an RCA jack directly from the cable box to the ONKYO receiver - then it utilized my speakers - but the sound is not digital. I wanted my HDMI surround sound back!!

Is there any button which I have accidentally pressed which disabled my HDMI output to my Onkyo speakers?
