HELP PLEASE! Essay!?

I have to write an essay about,

"Why is the english language arts the most important subject"

What are some ideas I can write about regarding this topic.

This is what I have for now,

Without the basic understanding of English - in an English speaking environment, one would never be able to understand the basic concepts of reading and literacy, which would, in turn, cause the inability to learn math, history etc., which are all fundamentals in day to day life. Without knowledge of the English language, there would be no future in the arts such as literature, poetry, drama which would bring an end to novels, movies etc.

How can I make a presentable thesis for this?

  1. because its a language that can be learned to help people comunicate  between  diffrent nations and help keep the peace between these nations for years to come.with out the english language we would not be able to pass down the knowledge that we have expanded on through out the years and people would have to figure out that knowlege by themselves.

  2. how about b/c you probably wouldnt get far on the corpoate ladder? or its the standard for this country, and put into legislation? your points are good too, but think along the lines of society and not personal gains, sort of

  3. Words describe actions, beliefs and consequences.  Without description of our actions and beliefs, then there is no being.  We would live in a silent world.  We would not be able to study any subject anywhere because we couldn't read a book on it.  That includes, math, science, art, astronomy.  Our IQ is directly tied to our English, not our math.  If we don't grasp the English Language we cannot possibly grasp anything else.

  4. You will need to develp my argument if you agree with it.  hope it helps.

English language has domminated much of the artisitc output of the last 100 yrs by virtue of it's predominant place within the industrial revolution.

English was the language of modern commercial development so many artisits adopted the language to sell into the markets that could pay.  Everyone needs bread on the table.

As industrialisation gave people more time to take up the arts and leisure the demand for such grew.  Many industrialists became patrons of the arts.

My own favourite was Albert Kahn who patronised an ambitious photo and film archive of the people and places of the world
