I am being induced soon. I am having a boy and I am 38 weeks and 3 day, he has not dropped yet. The doctor said the reason he has not dropped yet is because my pelvis is narrow. I am being induced at 40 weeks not dropped not lost mucus plug yet or nothing do u think i will have to have a c section.

  1. A C-Section isnt the end of the world ... sure its painful recovery but think about it the pain wont last for the rest of your life but you will have your beautiful son for the rest of your life :)

Just be happy with a healthy baby :) things will work out and soon you will be too busy chasing after your little one to even remember the pain or struggle ... :)

    Good luck!!

  2. Ask them if they can do it at 41 or 42 weeks thats when most ppl are induced. I was going to be induced at 41 1/2 weeks but 2 days before my induction i went into labor. They say the average pregancy length is 41 weeks and one day.

  3. you might BUT relax and be calm. just focus on the baby. when in labor picture the baby in your mind and what they might look like

    good luck !!!!!!

  4. You have a week and 4 days to go before then.  A lot can happen in this time and you may not even make it to the induction.

My first baby didn't drop until I was in labor at 41 weeks and my pelvis isn't narrow at all.  He was over 9 pounds and came right out.

You need to remember that YOU are in charge of your outcome.  You can refuse the induction if you do not feel like it needs to happen. However, most inductions are successful and don't result in c-sections so you will probably be just fine either way.

  5. I would not worry about this.  During my most recent pregnancy (which was triplets, mind you), the lowest baby flipped from breech to headfirst in a matter of hours, and started descending.  I never saw my mucous plug - couldn't tell you when I lost it!  I have heard lots of stories of women who delivered a few days before a planned c-section, too.

If you are not having other complications, you might discuss pushing back the date of the planned delivery.  Discuss with the doc how important it is to you to at least TRY a natural birth.  I would be surprised if your doc wasn't willing to let you try to get to 41 weeks, in the absence of other complications.

And, if nothing else, the c-section itself really isn't all that scary.  You feel a bit of tugging, just like if someone was tapping you with a finger.  There is a screen placed between your face and your abdomen, so you don't see what is happening.  It seems a bit surreal - it isn't "natural" childbirth, after all - but it doesn't hurt.  These days, c-sections are so common, they are almost foolproof.

I have been through the process twice now (first was after 28 hours of unprogressive labor, the second was planned due to triplets).  I had really wanted the experience of natural labor.  But, I can tell you from experience, what is important to me now is that I have beautiful, healthy children, regardless of the delivery method.

  6. You very well might have to. I was induced one day past my due date and I ended up having a c section. Other women have been induced and delivered vaginally with no problems. C sections aren't that bad. The recovery is no fun but I assume that some of the recovery from a vaginal birth would be bad as well. Don't stress about it. Everything will work out fine and you will meet your beautiful little boy very soon! Congratulations and Good Luck!!!

  7. You still have 2 weeks to get your son down.

I was induced at 38 weeks believe it or not.  Depending on how far your baby is down.  You'll be okay.

Try to have s*x between now and then.  Maybe just maybe your son will move down and even engage himself into your pelvis.

I had s*x with my husband before my 38th with pelvic exam and my son was engaged and was induced that night.  Keep having s*x and mentally tell your son to come down and that it's ready to come out.  You have a very strong mental connection with your son right now or shine a light down near your groin area or have your hubby (?) speak to him.  He'll move to the light or the sound of his voice.

Good luck on the delivery of your baby boy.

  8. I was induced, diagnosed with a narrow pelvis, and delivered vaginally.  I did have a complication called shoulder dystocia partly due to the narrow pelvis.

At the end of the day, you will have a new baby boy and will quickly forget about the trials of labor!

  9. A c section? No. Women with narrow pelvises give birth vaginally all the time. I'm a size 3 (XS) normally, and when I'm pregnant I'm a size small at full term. I've had two 7 lb babies vaginally, and they told me the same thing. That my pelvis was narrow....

Being induced at 40 weeks is way too extreme. Most women are pregnant for anywhere from 37-42 weeks. When your baby is ready your body will know. Don't forget, you were made to do this! I don't know how you feel about induction, or what you know about it, but it usually leads to your baby being on oxygen for a while after birth (not for long, but that's beside the point here) and can actually hinder your labor and be the CAUSE of complications. See, with induction, the pitocin usually brings on contractions to forceful and too strong! It has been known to lead to a woman begging for an epidural or some other medication due to it all happening too quickly. An epidural can make your doctor worry even more and panic. If you're not able to feel the urge to push, you may not push hard enough. In your doctors mind, your baby will be "stuck" or "stressed" if you're not getting him out quick enough. Doctors can really put a damper on a life event that doesn't usually need to be tampered with.

I'm 36 weeks and 5 days pregnant with my third, who still hasn't dropped. My first didn't drop until I went into labor. Every woman and pregnancy are different, but some things remain true for everyone. 1) sperm naturally softens your cervix. Maybe you can use your husband to your advantage from now until you give birth ;) 2) nipple stimulation produces oxytocin (of which pitocin is the synthetic -fake- form). Oxytocin can get that uterus contracting and your baby into a position your doctor likes. May even get the ball rolling for real!

Anyway, I'm drifting here. I hope any of that helps or motivates. Good luck!!!

  10. been there, i was SO not letting them induce me (pitocin) i started to take herbal remedies for i dreaded the pain of pitocin and surgery. i elected to go all natural three days before my birth and i was five days late. i ended up going thru a midwife cause i refused to be strapped down to medical devices all day. I'm a plus size girl and they told me the same thing, my pelvis was narrow and the baby was too big. see with inducement and surgery you then have the baby on the doctors schedule rather than him waking up in the middle of the night. i took 5w pills and prime rose oil and walked about seven miles then within three days my water popped and xoerae was born! good luck with you pregnancy i hope everything works out.
