  1. if you're doing it on a smaller budget, and you want it to be simple, go to michaels or somewhere you can get an inexpensive LARGE canvas (I'm talking the largest ones you can get) for each wall that seems really bare once you get your furniture in place. then, go to sherwin williams, or hirschfields (or wherever you can get benjamin moore), or even home depot (for behr or ralph lauren) and get a few small cans of paint colors that correlate to the furniture you own and other colors you want to introduce. then, just have fun! make geometric patterns, do some abstracts, whatever you like (I've put some websites at the bottom for inspiration for your canvasses). just try to not use one of each color on every canvas - change it up depending on the room, and keep in mind you can probably mix some of the colors you purchase to create more colors. it will create kind of a cool, art gallery or museum feel for the dull white walls.

ps. you don't have to be super artistic to make this work, just go for it and don't be shy! you can't really s***w it up. if you hate it, just let it dry and paint over it again. you could even do one solid color over the whole canvas if you want to, or if it comes to that.

pps. you could also buy some yardage of fabrics you like and pin them to the walls - you can actually cover a whole wall if you get enough.

  2. Hm... Michael Jackson <333 he's hott

  3. You'll have to add color with pictures, throws, pillows, maybe a sash draped across the window.  I feel your pain.

  4. Buy some bright fabric, or scarves, and staple them on to either heavy cardboard, or make up a frame, and hang them on the walls to brighten the room. Won't cost you much, but is effective

  5. You can hang a single decorative drapery rod across the length of an entire wall and hang any style of material/drapes from it in a style you choose.  You can have them "closed" so as to give the illusion that the entire wall has that pattern.  Or if the material is a solid color, set them "open" and place a very large wall hanging or framed picture in between.

You can also get folding paneled "room dividers" which come in many styles and construction and simply place them against a wall to break it up or between living space so that when you look in one direction or another you see the screen and not a wall.

You might also check and see whether the complex will approve of any other colors.  Some have an approved list of colors you may paint with.

  6. There is really not much you can do, but try hanging really large pieces of wall art to cover a lot of wall space. You can also, find really nice wallpaper and cover an accent wall by tacking it to the wall with decorative tacks. I hope this helps.

  7. FAUX WALLS

  8. really big pictures of nice things like flowers for the living room?

  9. a black velvet painting of Elvis would be cool
