  1. I just bought a 42"  LG from Best Buy, and it is wonderful. The picture is AWESOME. Best Buy will also match prices for up to 60 days AFTER you buy! It was very reasonable, 1,099.00

  2. Another tip would be the return policy if you do not like the new LCD TV.

I would also go with LG brand over Phillips.  LG makes reputable LCD glass and sell them to other LCD TV manufacturers.

  3. These are the top 10 LCD tv brands in decending order:

Sony, Samsung, Sharp, Toshiba, LG, Mitsubishi. Panasonic, Philips, JVC, Hitachi

I wouldn't recommend getting an: Insignia, Olevia, Wesstinghouse or Vizio.

LGs are pretty good, but not as good as a Samsung or a Sony

Philips are ok.... the tend to have a tint of green in them

You should spend a little more time researching LCD brands and models before purchasing one.

Check out sites like amazon.com, CNET.com. crutchfield.com, and yahoo shopping,  and read some user reviews!!

Some features/specs you should look for:

    1080p

    120 hz

    low response time

    high contrast ratio

    game/movie mode

    Good luck!

  4. if you want to go just based on the brand name, which i'm assuming considering you did not provide information on the exact specs of the TV's. With that said I would go with LG personally.

Your best bet though, find the model in each of the 2 brands that you like.. search the internet.  Amazon is great for this, so is Walmart.  Look at the Customer ratings and feedback of those who have actually purchased the product.  Even try yahoo tech pretty good for this too! Good luck

  5. hi,philips and lg are the same company.open a tv and on back of the screen it will say lg/philips.
