  1. Not being a vegan and joining PETA won't make you look like a poser. Joining PETA by itself will already do that.

PETA has nothing to do with either diet or ethics. They are an organization driven by their own agenda. They will ask you to pose naked if it serves them and their "cause". You can eat meat and slaughter animals left and right but as long as you give them your annual dues, you will still be a member of "good standing". They are the posers, not you. Trust me because I was a former PETA member.

My advice is to do what you think is best for you, vegetarian or vegan or whatever, and forget about PETA and labels and all of that nonesense.. Your money, support and commitment will be better utilized by your local Humane Society or ASPCA

  2. You really want to change because of how people will see you? I hope you have a better reason than that...

I'm not a veg and I support the Farm Sanctuary. I even worked and lived there for a month, living totally vegan out of respect for their beliefs. You can support some of their causes without completely agreeing with everything they say...

  3. You can support animal causes without being perfect. Nobody is perfect.

I dont eat animal sushi.  However you can get some really good meat-free sushi.  My favorite one is cucumber-and-avacado maki sushi.

Try these products. There for vegetarians, fake meat. I love them!!!

  5. plenty of peta supporters are just vegetarian and not vegan. you wont be a poser. but if you really want to become a vegan, slowly ween yourself off the foods. and you can buy vegan versions of most foods, like ice cream, brownies, sweets, meat etc. its hard. but you can do it (:

  6. You can still support Peta and not be a vegan.

I am a vegetarian, the fake chicken patties out there taste so much like chicken that it curbs any cravings for it.  I have even fooled a meat eater with the patties.

You can be a pescatarian and get rid of all other meats and still have your sushi, and there is also the meatless sushi you could try.

Any effort to cut comsumption of animals is a good one, at least the way I see it:)  Plus nobody at Peta (unless you are working there) would ever know if you were a vegan or not.  Don't make a decision based on what others may think of you, make your decision by what feels right for you and you alone.

    Good luck.
