HELP Recording Satellite with Magnavox DVD Recorder!!?

Question

Everythings hooked up, but when I turn to satellite and press auto preset on my dvd recorder, it switches to local tv and presets that instead??!! how do I preset my satellite channels???

Hi Jen

The stand alone DVD recorder is designed to record from air or cable channels only.  If you hooked it up to the output which normally goes to the TV (single coax cable) then it can only record on the single channel that comes out of the satellite box (usually channel 3 in the US, not sure about other countries).

If you hooked the stand alone DVD recorder up using composite video (yellow) and stereo audio (white and red) then you need to select the input on the DVD recorder that you used (if it has two inputs be sure to pick the correct one).  Then you do not preset the channels at all.

If you hooked it up to an antenna and the video input for the satellite then yes preset the channels for the antenna and then switch to the input to record the satellite.

If you hooked it directly to the satellite dish and removed the satellite receiver you need to hook that back up first.
