HELP!?!?! Salamander....???

Question

I just found a salamander. I have a lot of questions

1) can they live with sand like hermit crabs with a small thing of water?

2) Wat do they eat/Can they eat Crickets from PetSmart?

3) Can they live inside?

Salamanders are difficult pets for beginners.

You should release it where you found it- before it dies.

Chris J what are u thinking

1) NO GOD NO sand with irritate them cause impaction cut and graze them and finally kill them. substrate and water levels/amounts depends on species

2) yes and other living insects they wont take the salamander sticks because its a wild animal it wont know its food.

3) NEVER take wild animals out of the wild and keep them. this is common sense its cruel and immoral. also u clearly have no idea of the species or what your doing or how to keep it (salamanders need certain temps humidity levels amounts of water depths of water).

by keeping it will probably die from stress or disease cause by a lower immune caused by the stress of being kept in captivity. those that survive have health issues due to the stress of capture these include illness, behavior disorders and non eating.

put it back where u found it if u still want a salamander find out how to care for them then and only then get one from a pet store

sand sticks to them so no sand, their habitat has to be wet (spray with a spray bottle atleast once a day) they have food at petsmart thats made for salamanders and its cheap too. They can live inside, so they just need the right habitat. Since its gets you have to clean the habitat almost every day. Good luck with your salamander.
