Hey i have a new school uniform and the size of jumper my parent purchased from the shop is too big for me so its so baggy.

I've been thinking about sewing it to make it smaller and more fitted. I've got two jumpers so if it goes wrong, i have another one.

this is what the jumper looks like except its more baggy on me!

Does anyone know how to approach the sewing job?

Many Thanks.

  1. find out if you could go to a tailor?

  2. I've been wearing a school uniform my whole entire life. Trust me when I say to just deal with it. There is no way you can fix it. Cutting or sewing it will just mess it up even more. The uniform companies design them so they don't flatter you. It's time to face the truth. :(

  3. For some reason I can't get onto photobucket. But it can't be that bad bacause everyone else will be wearing the same cloths. School uniform is not cool altogether so it dosen't really matter. You might grow into it anyway. :) xx

  4. Try sewing it and it'll look dreadful. Go for the slouchy look!

  5. If you want to get it more fitted, go to a tailor.

You have no idea how it will turn out if you do it yourself.

  6. turn the jumper inside out and put it on. then pin down the sides, along the seam to get it to the size you want. take it off carefully and simple sew along the path of the pins, at each side. this way you can un-pick your stitching if it goes wrong and you wont have cut into the jumper.

if it does go well you can always trim off the excess.

  7. I know the feeling. Every year we had these huge, hideous green jumpers which has NO SHAPE and a boring neckline. We all looked awful, but that's School for ya! Honestly you will look back on it laughing. Thankfully we left school last year (and burned ourt uniforms) but it all adds to the memories. Make a joke out of it and don't ruin your jumpers lol

  8. Shrink it in the dryer.

  9. If you're not comfortable with the sewing, then take a hairband, gather the jumper at the back to however it suits you and then tie it!

    Hope this helps!

  10. hi, if you have not already don't' take the labels off! I went into my daughters new school today and managed to swap for a smaller size. The arms where flapping over her hands!  School could not have been more helpful.  Worth giving them a ring or going in early see if they will swap it.

unless you know a professional or are excellent with a sewing machine i would leave it.

You could always try shrinking it in the tumble dryer ;)

or u could ask ur parents 2 exchange it

  12. Right go to a tailor and ask to make it fitted it will look much nicer

  13. I'd leave it alone. These home sewing jobs almost never come out the way you want them to. Can't you get your parents to exchange it? If you do attempt it. DO NOT CUT knitwear. It will just unravel.

  14. can't you try shrinking it in the dryer??
