my friend bought them for us in remembrance of a dear friend with Muscular Dystrophy that died tragically in a housefire. Mine is TOO BIG. Is there anyway to shrink them?

I think I may buy one from the dollar store and try cutting and burning the ends back together but was asking for some help.

Thanks so much.

  1. If they're silicone, then no glue will stick to the ends if you cut the bracelet apart and try to glue them back together, or even if you wanted to glue on some kind of findings which would connect those ends.

So one possibility would be to make some kind of connectors that would give some kind of *mechanical hold* instead of trying to use an adhesive.

One example of that would be cutting the bracelet, then trimming the length so it's *too short* for your wrist.  Create a hole in each end of the length of silicone that's left.

You could then put something like a large metal jump ring through each of the holes, and connect each of those jump rings to one part of a metal clasp (this would make the bracelet removable without having to slip over your hand).

Or you could make one or more holes in each end, then join them by threading through some lacing (even elastic cord)-- this would probably need to slip over your hand, or you could make your own ties in the lacing, etc.

I guess you could also attach the cut bracelet to the top of a larger cuff bracelet (by wrapping with lacing or wire, etc.), and wear it that way, etc.

P.S.  Silicone can take a lot of heat before it melts/etc... that's why potholders and baking pans are made from it!

    Best of luck!

  2. Cut it to the length you want, then butt the ends together and sew them with some heavy polyester thread that matches the bracelet (cheap at a fabric store or wal-mart).

  3. you would either have to do what you just said (cutting and burning) or order another one in a smaller size
