I'm really scared right now. I just took my hamster how to play, and I noticed that there was a "bump" growing? It's near the right side of her underbelly, and sort of between her front and back leg. It's circular, and not droopy, but it's... kinda big. Not HUGE. Maybe a little bit bigger than the size of a looseleaf hole. I don't know what's wrong!!!! Is it a tumor? A bladderstone???? Please help me!

  1. It sounds like a tumor.  Many of my older hamsters developed those.  You can take it to a vet but chances are there is nothing they can do about the tumor.

Many times a hamster will live out the rest of his life.  My hamsters lived six months or longer even with having a tumor.

  2. take it to the vet. my friend had a teddy bear hamster with a bump thats sorta like the one you described and kinda in the same place. turned out it was a tumor. she took it to the vet and she put it down for free. ask a vet. its wonderful you care enough to research it!

  3. Have the vet take it out immediately.

  4. TAKE YOUR HAMSTER TO THE VET!!

first off, how old is she? r u certain it's a she and not a he? they have a very large rear area. any chance she could be pregnant? i know u mentioned trying to get one pregnant in a past question. is it a dwarf? they can take 30 days to have babies vs, the 16 for syrians. could be constipation. is she eating/drinking ok? water bottle working fine? u dont have any of that fluffy bedding they sell do u? if u do throw it all away as it can lead to constipation. is there a reduced amount of droppings? feeding a drop of vegetable or olive oil may help to relieve if constipation, but the vet has better medicine. give her some fruits/veggies daily. especially some greens or cucumber for a couple days. normally too much of this causes diarrhea but we may have the opposite here. make sure her hamster food is at least 15% protein. if her bottom specifically appears to bulge it could also be tapeworms.

  5. unfortunately it sounds like cancer, the problems with hamsters is they dont last too long..sorry :(
