Question:

HELP...Splits?

I am trying to get my splits... any good ideas of how I can quickly get them/?

Hate to disappoint you like this but splits don't come quickly.  Just keep doing them consistently every day.  Ease into them - don't force yourself or else you will tear a muscle and youch, that hurts!!!  Start doing it like 15 min (5 min each for right, left, and side splits).  Then work it up to like 30 min.....it should be divisible by 3 so you can spend equal time on all of your splits (unless one is better than the other so you can spend more time working on the worse ones).  Also, practice them more than once a day.  Do it maybe in the morning and night.  With summer coming and no school, also try to do them in the afternoon.  Do it whenever you have meals or something.  Good luck!

I had the same problem when i started taking dance and the way i got my splits and it really works. first you need to go take a warm bath that helps stretch out you muscles and makes them alot warmer when you get out you need to go and find an open space in the room and you need to start lunging on one leg (it is never smart to go straight into the splits) after you lunged you need to old it for 45 sec. when its 45sec. lean back on your back foot and straighten and point your front leg then take your nose touch your knee and your arms reach ing your foot hold until it stops hurting(which may take awhile) then slowly go into your splits by straightening your back leg and keeping your front leg straight hold for 3 min. go down as far as you can. Repeat on other side do this every day until you have them down. And as for middle after the bath stretch in the straddle position for a few minutes and slowwly roll over from the stradle. Youll have your splits in no time!!!!!!!!!Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!

  5. The splits are only fun after you have them all the way. To help yourself get them, first warm up in a hot bath. This will make your muscles more loose. After the bath find a place that you can stretch. Do some easy stretches first like touch ing your toes and sitting in a butterfly. DON'T just hop right into your splits! You could tear a muscle. Now get into the splits as far as you can go. I find it helpful to take a deep breath in and as you slowly breathe out, feel your body sinking closer to the floor. Do this for a couple of minutes on each leg and see the improvement!

  6. warm up your body first always before. then stretch reeeeally good for 30 or so minutes (just dont hurt yourself!) stretching is the key though, lots and lots of stretching. But i couldnt go far on my right split and i stretched for 30 minutes, went outside in the grass and did it :D good luck! they are frusterating!

A dance teacher told me about this one: Stretch really well and then make a stack of pillows.  Sit on the pillows like you were going to do the splits on them.  When the position is comfortable (it should take a few days to a week), remove a pillow.  Repeat this until you don't need the pillows anymore.  It also works with towels.  The great thing about this is you can do it just about anywhere, doing anything.  Watching tv, reading, eating!

  8. theres not really a quick way.  you just have to stretch everyday and practice them everyday
