  1. I think you've done all you can  by changing the water, continue to try keep amonia levels down.  He may be beyond saving.  Look out for signs of fungus, white spot or fin rot, and treat if seen, if you have other fish whatch them closely.

    EDITED

If it's a goldfish, they can live over 12 years

  2. When my fishes did that..

    They usually died.

    I'm sorry.

But if you've done all right,

    then it wasn't your fault,

and you're going to have to let the poor guy swim to Heaven!

  3. Okay! Is Both It's Fins Okay?...... Check That! Then Call Your Local Vet ! You Could Call The RSPCA But By The Time They Answer It Willl Already Be Dead!

Feed It.. If It Don't Come Up For Food Then It May Have A Broken Fin!

But maybe It's Just Old Of Maye You Got It From A Bad Fish Seller Or A Fair. They Often Live Shorter Fishy Lives!

    Good Luck!

  4. it sounds like swim bladder disorder- go to your pet store and get some medicine, in the mean time, cook and cool a pea, chop it up real small, and sprinkle that in for him to eat- he should manage to eat it.  if he's refusing food, it's not a good sign.

your mistake was changing ALL of his water- you should never ever do this, and you've unfortunately made it worse for him, by stressing him further.  did you use water treatment? if you didn't de-chlorinate the water, i'm afraid he doesn't have much hope.

check for any of these symptoms:

    *blotchy or grainy looking eyes

    *missing scales

    *sores/ scars

if he exhibits any of these, there is little you can do but make him comfortable and wait for the end.  if he has these symptoms, try not to handle him after he dies- if you use a net to get him, throw it away afterwards.

good luck, and i hope it's just a case of SBD.

  5. if he is over 10 he will probably die of old age

and to the person who said one year is old age you obviously have never kept a healthy fish

  6. well how long have you had him?? hun,if he's lived more than a year, this is his time to go to the better place.=].

  7. add rocksalt with good aeration.

  8. goldfish live for 20 years + so it's not old age. How big is your tank? needs to be about 20 gallons for single tail and 10 for fancys..do you have a filter an airpump? this stuff will help with his health but he almost certinately has a disease. You need some fish medicine.

some people use salt baths with aquarium salt only, i find they're not very fast and your fish may die before you can do it.

I use Methylene Blue, a medicine which is very good for fish, i have never had a sick fish die whilst using methylene blue, there are many other medicines you can get but this in my opinion is best if you don't know exactly what is wrong with your fish.

But about your tank water, do you use water conditioner? to take the chlorine out of your water? chlorine is lethal to fish and they will get symptoms like you are describing if they have been exposed to it. If you're not get some conditioner, full water change and put him in that. If you cant get conditioner get some new water leave it to stand over night so the chlorine will evaporate then put him in.

    Other Symptoms:

i probebly wont check back here but if he has any of these other symptoms please e-mail me =]

    red streaked fins

    torn fins

    covered in little white spots

    darting around the tank

    loss of appetite

white "fuzzy stuff" on his body or fins

    Good Luck.

  9. Do you over feed him? If so, just a few lil flakes/pellets.

  10. How do you know the pot of bacteria is good?If you got it from a pet shop chances are it may not be,when i get new fish i dump the fish through a net,i never use anyone else's water in any of my tanks.
