  1. The valve you are talking about is an isolation valve. It shuts off the water supply or opens it. You turn it until the slot is lying horizontal to shut the water off, and turn it vertical to let water in. Leave it as it is.

The black valve to the left is the only one you open to top up the boiler water pressure, then close it when you have the correct pressure.

  2. its looks like a none return valve,,s***w usually left alone ( unscrewed u can remove insides to clean out),,,as long as one end of your filling loop is off ...

  3. Dont touch it.That is part of the filling loop,It is the other end you turn to increase pressure.

  4. this is part of the filling loop to top up your heating system,

that s***w is a non return valve, it does not s***w in and out, turn it horizontal for every day use.

  5. No, This is an isolator ball valve.

When the slot in the s***w is in line with the pipe, it will allow water through. When the slot is at right angles to the pipe, it will stop the water to allow maintenance on whatever it is connected to.

There is no Fully Clockwise or anticlockwise, it will just go round and round. In normal working, keep the slot in line with the pipe. but that does depend on what its connected to.

if it is to top up the pressure in your heating system (this is normally a tap though)  it would normally be off and in the horizontal position.

    Al.

  6. that s***w is a ballafix valve and like lfp says is part of your filling loop.it is not a s***w as such but in the vertical positin is open and horizontal is closed.

it should usually be in the closed position unless your boiler pressure drops below about 1 bar, then both valves should be opened to let the system fill up again.
