HELP WITH ETHERNET PORT ?!?!?

when i installed the disc that came with my router i realized i didn't have an ethernet port. so i bought an ethernet adapter but when im instaling the disc it says NO ETHERNET PORT FOUND what could i do to fix this??? please help ???

  1. Make sure that the Ethernet card is properly installed (drivers). If it is, the Ethernet card may not have been enabled in the Control Panel>Network Connections. Check to make sure that it is enabled.


  2. WoW!!! A computer that came without an ethernet port?? that's like ancient. I'm guessing that your computer is at least5-6 years old. Maybe older. What version of Windows does it have? Basically you don't have to do anything. Plug the Ethenet adapter in the PCI Slot, boot  up>BIOS shows ESCD success>Windows shows found new H/W & installs the drivers. If its 98SE or above, it should have the drivers, if not, use the dial up to find drivers. XP should have the drivers by default.

    Once Windows recognizes & installs the drivers for ethernet, go ahead & run your router CD.. Not before that.
