  1. 15 minutes is 1/4 of an hour, so if you can go 30 miles in one hour, you will get 7.5 miles (30/4)

  2. you go half a mile in one minute so 7.5 miles in 15 minutes. I just did 30 divided by 60 because there are 60 minutes in one hour.

  3. First thing you need to do with a problem like this is put both parts in the same language.

    So

1/4 hour (which is fifteen minutes, there are 4 sets of fifteen minutes in an hour) = 30 mph

now both sides have hour in them

now just ask yourself, "how far do you go in one quarter of an hour if you are going 30 miles per hour?"

Logic tells you that you would go one fourth of 30 miles, so take 30 and divide it by 4.

    30 divided by 4 = 7.5 miles

  4. PROBLEM:

how far do you go in 15 minutes if you are going 30 mph??

    Reggie Says:

There are 2 ways to do this.

    1) 30mph = 1/2 mile per minute.

    (1/2 mile per minute) (15 minutes) = 7.5 (7 and 1/2) miles in 15 minutes

    2) 15 minutes = 1/4 (.25) of an hour.

    (30mph) (1/4 of an hour) = 7.5 (7 and 1/2) miles in 1/4 hour.

Since 1/4 hour = 15 minutes, the answer is 7.5 miles in 15 minutes.

    Hope this helps.
