  1. Performance camshaft, adjustable cam timing, Edelbrock Manifold, holley 600ish Carb, Headers, and an exhaust system. Oh, dont forget the K&N.

  2. there are lots of ways to get 400 hp from a small block.. how much do you want to spend ? alUminum or killer steel heads would give you a big boost. the right cam for what you're going to do with it. street ,strip or both... nitrous --WITH  the internals done for this kind of abuse.  steel forged crank--prefferably a stroker kit== 400 sb crank and rods, open plenum manifold for higher rpm use (4000 to 9500 rpm) more street able would be a dual plenum 0-6500 rpm.. roller rockers and lifters, headers , lots of machine work- blah blah blah.... or make it easy on yourself and buy a gm zz4 and do some timing and fine tuning... pretty close to 400 right off the bat and would probably be easier on your wallet... and its pretty much a drop it blast !  dont forget to build the trans for this stuff too... then the rearend ... and list goes on... have fun with it.. theres gazillions of parts and ideas to play with out there..  i have  385 stroker (350 block .040 over with 400 sb crank-- KB pistons 11.25.1 eagle rods, scat crank , brodix heads, bowtie manifold, headers, roller lifter and 1.6 rockers with lots of trans work and converter and rearend work....... $$$$$$$  runs good at 10.80's  and its just barely streetable... go get em...

  3. check with summit auto parts.  sounds like you may need a lot of head work( valve train stuff), and some fuel management add ons (2 four barrels, possible blower etc).  bring two wallets of money plus a good credit card.  ps, do you have stock in an oil company or is your name cheny.

  4. I ordered my kit from PAW (performance automotive warehouse) The kit was great except for the gasket set. The cam is the key to building HP in any engine. I used a 282H cam with under .50 lift. I did this because I used my factory heads. I would get a subscription to "Hot Rod". I have read it for over 20 years and have learned alot.
