HELP - What can be used as a temporary cat carrier?

I am taking my 7 month old female kitten to the vet tomorrow to be de-sexed and microchipped, and straight after I drop her off I'm coming home to get my 4 year old male cat to have him microchipped also and he's quite difficult in the car. Stupid me has left it until last minute to look for our cat cage and it's GONE!! (Or I've been looking in the wrong places for almost two whole hours!)

Any ideas what I can use even just to get her to the vet (the vet can lend me a cage to come and pick the big one up/take him home)???

Pillow case is fine for emergency, Mesh laundry bags work better.  They have draw strings and the mesh allows air flow.  Cardboard boxes with a few small air holes.  I've got a zipper gym bag with a mesh end that lets wet clothing air.. and my siamese has ridden in it a few times since he out grew the carrier.

A cardboard box is the most common substitute for an actual travel carrier.  However, if you don't have any boxes big enough I have on the rare occasion used a large pillow case for a smaller cat.  How well that would work would, of course, depend largely on the cat.  If she's likely to freak out and scratch through the pillow case then that wouldn't be a good choice.

for the kitten if she does not ride in the car very well i recomend a large box that you can watch over her make sure you keep her near you tho so she is not too scared, as for your older cat you should get a proper cat cage from the vet, i have a 5 year male cat who i just took to the vet and he hates even being around a car so they can get pretty scared make sure the cat can see you with it and pat him, talk to him while ur in the car it helps trust me.

my mom use to use a  pillow case for our cat to go to the vet. it worked in a jiffy. vet was just around the corner and down the block. then get the carrier for the bigger cat.

Two laundry baskets one right way then the other wong way flipped on top and tied together. :o) Works everytime!
