Question:

HELP!! What do I do with a wild kitten infested with fleas???

We found a wild kitten who has lots of fleas. Its getting really skinny too from the fleas sucking his blood. It's really sad to watch. We also bought a flea spray but found out that kittens only more than 12 weeks old could use it. Unfortunately, this kitten looks to be about 9 weeks old. If I take him to the vet, it'll cost a lot of money, but I don't have much. We can't really keep him either because we already have a cat and a guinea pig. But we are keeping him in a sort of way. He's always behind our store which is where he lives. So, if there's any cat expert out there....PLEASE HELP!!

Also, if anyone can give me any tips on this or how I should take care of him and like what product I can buy to keep him healthy, it would be great.

One more question: What is the right age to get a cat nuetered?? Thanks for whoever answers this question or at least looks at it! I appreciate it!!

  1. You can get a pill called Capstar over the counter at a Vet clinic. It will kill all the fleas on the kitten, and is safe. I would also get some Pet Tinic or something similar at the Vets that has Vitamins in it and give to the kitten. You can also use the original Dawn dish washing liquid to bathe him. Make sure to keep warm and out of drafts until completely dry. Good luck with him.

  2. the first thing to do is to get the poor little thing out of its misery and give it a good flea bath, there really are not any good product that I know of that you can buy that I have found that will do the trick from a pet store, but getting a dose of the lowest weight of Feline Advantage from your local vet and putting it on her neck will kill off most of the live fleas and the eggs that are on her.  Then I suggest to then give her a flea bath with a pet store brand wash.  1 dose should cost you about $20.00 max.  As for neutering, usually they want to wait until they are 6 months, but they sometimes do it a bit earlier if they are outdoor cats, also talk to a vet, they give telephone advice, through the reception.   Good luck

  3. spray it.it doesnt matter life or death.

  5. well you can get flea shampoo or a flea collar if you get shampoo jus wash it really good an they will start to fall off i had the same problem an you can sit an pick some of them off but it will take a while, but you can buy flea an tick med in a tube for bout 5 dollars an use it once a month. an you can buy it food to eat like dry food or other stuff get it healthy treats to eat an he will  get healthy

  6. Advantage is very safe and is over the counter at any vet or pet store.  Get a dose and apply it to the skin on the back of his neck.  It will kill fleas for up to a month.  If possible, take the little guy to a shelter where he'll be dewormed, vaccinated, and have an excellent chance at adoption.

  7. Food grade DIATEMATIOUS EARTH is a powder you can put it all over the cat & in places where the fleas are.  Vacum it when they are gone, dead, great 4 carpet.     It is harmless to pets, or people including kids.  It is also used to sprinkle a little in animal feed to keep out  pests that will result in those wormy bug things.

Search on line,  you'll find it or a maybe pet supply, this may be what is in flea powder.

  8. i had a wild kitten to. go to walmart or another store and by kitten shampoo wash him really good it the sink if you have a sprayer that works really well. wash him and pick out as many flease as possible. when your done put him somewhere that he cant get in any trouble. then you go get in the shower.   but if you have money it is a great idea because most wild cats have ear mites really mad so just keep your options open and he or she can tell you the gender of your kitten. and feed it dry cat food because if you use wet food it can cause serious teeth damage to kitten to really adult cats. just do as i say and you will have a very nice and happy life with your new kitten
