  1. Check with your parents or call her pediatrician- at 3 she has probably been immunized with DPT which is short for Diptheria, Pertussis and Tetanus.

Keep the area clean and put on Bacitracin which is an antibiotic cream. If possible, cover with a bandage for the first few days.

If the wound is deep, keeps bleeding or looks in any way like it is reddening around the outside or has pus then get her to the doctor.

    Don't panic, she'll be fine!

  2. The usual schedule for Tetanus and infants is, a series of four doses given at two, four, six, and 15-18 months of age. If her parent followed this schedule her Tetanus will not have expired if she is 3. Other than that if she is really bleeding she may need stitches, obviously none of us know the severity of the injury so you need to use your best judgement.

  3. I've had a similar thing happen to me. I was older, about 13/14, and had someone else's fish hook get stuck int he palm of my hand! It's very painful.

Clean it out, as best you can. Be very careful, with it being close to her eye. And call the doctor, when the office is open, to make sure you sister is up to date on her shots, and ask if they would like to see your sister.

Otherwise, try not to keep her fingers away from it. She doesn't need to be touching it, and exposing it to germs from her hands.

  4. take her to an er to get it checked out and to get a tetnus shot if she doesnt have one already

  5. get her vaccinated

    now

  6. Take her to the dr and make sure all shots are up to date!

  7. Please take her or have someone else take her to the hospital. She  may need a tetanus shot if her last one has lapsed. When you are at the hospital and you are leaving follow the doctor's orders. Remember they went to school for things like this. Don't get too scared I'm sure you are a great babysitter and it wasn't your fault what happened. You won't get in trouble for doing the right thing. Hopefully everything will be o.k for your sister.
